Description
Spooky spider deviled eggs are a fun and creepy Halloween appetizer, perfect for any ghoulish gathering. They’re surprisingly easy to make and always a hit!
Ingredients
12 large eggs
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 teaspoon white vinegar
Salt and pepper, to taste
Black olives (pitted), for decoration
Fresh chives, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1. Hard-boil the eggs: Place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan and cover with cold water by 1 inch. Bring to a rolling boil, then remove from heat, cover, and let stand 10–12 minutes. Drain, then transfer to an ice bath for 5 minutes.
2. Peel cooled eggs carefully. Slice each egg in half lengthwise; gently scoop yolks into a small bowl.
3. Mash yolks with a fork until smooth. Add mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, salt, and pepper; mix until creamy.
4. Spoon or pipe yolk mixture back into the egg-white halves.
5. Make the spiders: Cut a black olive in half lengthwise. Place one half on the yolk for the “body.” Slice the remaining half into thin strips for “legs” and arrange four on each side.
6. Garnish with chopped chives if desired. Arrange on a platter and serve immediately, or refrigerate until serving.
Notes
For a deeper hue, add a tiny drop of food coloring to the yolk mixture.
Always a crowd-pleaser—consider doubling the batch for parties.
Can be assembled a few hours ahead; keep refrigerated until serving.
