Description
Spooktacularly simple, these hot dog fingers for Halloween are a fun and edible treat perfect for any ghoulish gathering. Kids and adults alike will get a kick out of these creepy fingers, complete with “nails” made from slivered almonds or ketchup.
Ingredients
8 hot dogs
8 hot dog buns Ketchup (for blood and nails)
Yellow mustard (optional, for pus)
8 slivered almonds (for fingernails, optional)
Instructions
1. Boil or grill hot dogs according to package directions until heated through.
2. Once cooked, allow hot dogs to cool slightly so they are easier to handle.
3. Carefully cut each hot dog in half crosswise. This will give you 16 “fingers”.
4. Using a small, sharp knife, carve indents around one end of each hot dog half to resemble knuckles.
5. At the very tip of each “finger”, make a small incision and insert a slivered almond to create a fingernail. If not using almonds, you can use a dollop of ketchup for a painted look.
6. Place each hot dog finger into a hot dog bun.
7. Drizzle ketchup over the knuckles and open cuts for a gruesome, bloody effect. You can also add dots of mustard for extra creepiness.
8. Serve immediately and watch your ghouls delight in these hot dog fingers for Halloween!
Notes
For a vegetarian option, use veggie dogs. Experiment with different sauces for more ghastly effects. These hot dog fingers are a classic Halloween party food that’s both easy to make and eerily convincing!
