Description

These spooky mummy brownies are a Halloween treat featuring rich chocolate brownies decorated to look like adorable mummies. Perfect for parties or a fun baking project with kids!

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

1 (7 oz) package white candy melts

Candy eyes

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until well combined.

3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.

6. Fold in chocolate chips if using; spread batter evenly in the pan.

7. Bake 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick in the center comes out with moist crumbs. Do not overbake.

8. Cool completely on a wire rack; cut into rectangles.

9. Melt white candy melts per package directions; transfer to a piping bag (or zip bag with a small corner snipped).

10. Drizzle in zig-zag lines to create “mummy bandages,” leaving space for eyes.

11. While still wet, place two candy eyes on each brownie; let set completely before serving.

Notes

Extra spooky option: add a touch of red gel icing beneath the eyes.

Be sure brownies are fully cool before decorating or the candy melts will run.
