Ingredients
1 ยฝ cups all-purpose flour
ยฝ cup granulated sugar
ยฝ cup packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
ยฝ teaspoon ground nutmeg
ยผ teaspoon ground cloves
ยฝ teaspoon salt
1 large egg
ยฝ cup unsweetened applesauce
ยผ cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and finely diced
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease and flour an 8ร8 inch baking pan.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
3. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the egg, applesauce, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
5. Gently fold in the diced apples.
6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
7. Bake for 30โ35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
