  • 6 large eggs
  • 0.5 cup milk whole milk for richer, skim for lighter
  • 1 cup steamed broccoli florets, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese divided
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.125 teaspoon black pepper
  • nutmeg Pinch (optional)
  • Cooking spray or butter for greasing the dish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch pie dish.
  • Evenly scatter the chopped steamed broccoli florets across the bottom of the greased pie dish.

Mixing and Baking

  • In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and optional nutmeg until combined.
  • Stir half (1/2 cup) of the shredded cheddar cheese into the egg mixture.
  • Pour the egg and cheese mixture over the broccoli in the pie dish, then sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top.
  • Bake for 30-40 minutes until the center is set, a knife comes out clean, and the top is lightly golden.

Serving

  • Let the quiche cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of garlic powder or onion powder to the egg mixture. You can also customize by adding other vegetables like diced bell peppers or spinach, making sure to sauté them first to remove excess moisture.
