Equipment

  • Large bowl
  • Gallon-sized Ziploc bag
  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Spatula
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 9 cups Chex Cereal (Rice or Corn)
  • 12 oz White Chocolate Chips
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese softened
  • 3.4 oz box Cherry Gelatin Mix (or equivalent powdered freeze-dried cherries)
  • 1.5 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1 cup Graham Cracker Crumbs

Instructions

Preparation

  • Measure 9 cups of Chex cereal and place it in a large bowl or a gallon-sized Ziploc bag.

Melt Chocolate & Cream Cheese

  • Combine white chocolate chips and softened cream cheese in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth and melted, avoiding overheating.

Combine Flavors & Coat Cereal

  • Stir the entire box of cherry gelatin mix into the melted white chocolate and cream cheese mixture until fully incorporated. Pour the mixture over the Chex cereal and gently fold or toss until evenly coated, or shake gently in a Ziploc bag.

Add Powdered Sugar

  • Add 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar to the bowl or bag. Toss or shake again until the cereal is thoroughly coated with no wet spots.

Introduce the Crust

  • Add 1 cup of graham cracker crumbs and gently toss once more to distribute them throughout the puppy chow.

Chill & Serve

  • Spread the puppy chow onto a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and set, or chill in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes before serving.

Notes

For an extra festive touch, consider adding a few drops of red food coloring to the cherry-cheesecake mixture to enhance the vibrant cherry color. Ensure your cream cheese is truly softened to prevent lumps in your chocolate mixture. This recipe makes a great party snack and can be easily doubled for larger gatherings.
