Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 medium beetroot
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup grated carrot
  • 2 green chilies
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • Pinch asafoetida (hing) (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Water for soaking and blending
  • Oil or Ghee for cooking

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Soak rolled oats in about 1/2 cup of water for 15-20 minutes to soften them for blending.

Blending

  • Peel and chop the beetroot into small pieces.
  • Drain the soaked oats, then blend them with chopped beetroot, green chilies, and ginger until smooth, adding water as needed.

Mixing

  • Transfer the batter to a bowl and mix in chopped onion, grated carrot, coriander leaves, cumin powder, turmeric powder, optional asafoetida, and salt until well combined.

Cooking

  • Heat a non-stick pan or tawa over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil or ghee.
  • Pour a ladleful of batter onto the griddle, spreading it in a circular motion to form a thin chilla.
  • Drizzle oil or ghee around the edges and on top, cooking for 2-3 minutes until crispy.
  • Flip the chilla and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.

Serving

  • Remove the cooked chilla and repeat the process with the remaining batter, serving immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of garam masala. Serve these chillas with a side of green chutney or yogurt for a complete meal.
