Instructions

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, combine the finely minced onion and garlic.
  • In a large mixing bowl, gently add the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  • Lightly mix all ingredients using your hands until just combined, being careful not to overmix to prevent tough burgers.
  • Divide the mixture into 4 or 6 equal portions and form into ¾-inch thick patties. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb.

Cooking

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat or preheat your grill to medium.
  • Cook patties for 5-7 minutes per side, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and they are browned and cooked through.
  • Optionally, lightly toast burger buns cut-side down in a dry pan or on the grill until golden while the burgers cook.
  • Assemble by placing a cooked turkey patty on a toasted bun, adding toppings and condiments, and serving immediately.

Notes

To avoid dry burgers, be careful not to overcook the turkey patties. The indentation in the patties helps them maintain their shape during cooking. Feel free to customize with your favorite burger toppings like lettuce, tomato, cheese, or pickles.
