Special Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup yellow mustard

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a large skillet, cook ground beef and diced onion over medium-high heat until the beef is no longer pink, then drain excess fat and season with salt and pepper.

Assembly

  • Slice slider buns horizontally, keeping tops and bottoms intact, and place the bottom halves in the prepared baking dish.
  • Whisk together ketchup, mayonnaise, and yellow mustard in a small bowl to make the special sauce, optionally adding garlic powder and paprika.
  • Spread half of the special sauce evenly over the bottom bun halves.
  • Spoon the cooked beef mixture over the sauce, then layer American cheese slices evenly over the beef.
  • Place the top halves of the slider buns over the cheese, optionally brushing with melted butter and sprinkling with sesame seeds.

Baking and Serving

  • Cover the baking dish loosely with foil and bake for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and buns are lightly toasted.
  • Remove from oven, take off top buns, spread remaining special sauce on the inside of the top buns, then add shredded lettuce and dill pickle slices to the beef and cheese layer before replacing the top buns.
  • Slice the sliders apart and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, toast the buns lightly before assembling the sliders. Adjust the special sauce ingredients to your personal taste, adding more spice or tang as desired. These sliders are best served fresh, but leftovers can be gently reheated in the oven or microwave.
