  • 1-1.5 lbs Ground Beef 80/20 lean
  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • 2-3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 can Diced Tomatoes 14.5 oz, undrained
  • 1.5 cups Beef Broth
  • 3 cups Cooked Rice
  • 2-3 cups Shredded Cheese Cheddar, Monterey Jack, Colby, or a blend
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • Salt and Black Pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning or a pinch of paprika Optional

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet, then add ground beef and cook until browned, draining excess grease.

Cooking

  • Add chopped onion to the beef and cook until softened, then stir in minced garlic for one minute.
  • Stir in diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and optional seasonings, bringing the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the cooked rice until well combined.
  • Spread half of the meat and rice mixture into the baking dish and sprinkle with half of the shredded cheese.
  • Spoon the remaining mixture over the cheese and top generously with the remaining shredded cheese.

Baking and Serving

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbling and golden brown.
  • Let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a dash of smoked paprika or a pinch of red pepper flakes for a subtle kick. Feel free to experiment with different cheese blends to suit your taste.
