Equipment

  • large bowl
  • silicone heart molds (or cookie cutter)
  • parchment paper
  • baking sheet
  • microwave-safe bowl
  • fork (or candy dipping tool)

Ingredients

Peanut Butter Filling

  • 1 cup Creamy Peanut Butter
  • 1 ½ cups Powdered Sugar plus more if needed
  • ¼ cup Unsalted Butter ½ stick, softened
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1-2 tablespoons Milk optional, for consistency

Chocolate Coating

  • 12 ounces Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 teaspoon Coconut Oil optional, for thinning chocolate

Instructions

Preparation

  • Combine peanut butter, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a large bowl, mixing until a firm, rollable dough forms.
  • Adjust consistency with milk if too crumbly or extra powdered sugar if too sticky.
  • Press the mixture into heart molds or roll it out and cut heart shapes with a cookie cutter, alternatively hand-shape hearts.
  • Place shaped hearts on a parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes until firm.

Dipping and Setting

  • Melt semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth, and stir in coconut oil if desired.
  • Dip each chilled peanut butter heart into the melted chocolate using a fork or dipping tool, ensuring full coverage and tapping off excess.
  • Return dipped hearts to the parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for 15-30 minutes until the chocolate is fully set.
  • Once set, the chocolate peanut butter hearts are ready to enjoy or be packaged as gifts.

Notes

For best results, ensure the peanut butter hearts are very cold before dipping, which helps the chocolate set quickly and prevents the hearts from crumbling. If you don't have heart molds, you can easily shape them by hand or use any cookie cutter of your choice. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
