  • 2 lbs flank steak or sirloin steak cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 4 cups fresh broccoli florets

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce or Tamari for gluten-free
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 4 garlic, minced cloves
  • 1 tbsp freshly grated ginger or 1 tsp ground
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp cold water

  • Sear the beef in olive oil over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes per side until browned, then transfer to a slow cooker.
  • Whisk together beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger in a bowl to create the sauce.
  • Pour the prepared sauce over the seared beef in the slow cooker, ensuring all the beef is coated.
  • Cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high for 2-3 hours until the beef is tender.
  • During the last 30 minutes of cooking, add the broccoli florets to the slow cooker and continue cooking until bright green and tender-crisp.
  • Mix cornstarch and cold water to form a slurry, then stir it into the slow cooker. Cook for another 15-20 minutes on high, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
  • Serve the beef and broccoli over rice or noodles, garnishing with sesame seeds, green onions, or red pepper flakes as desired.

Notes

For best flavor, use fresh ginger. Adjust brown sugar to taste for desired sweetness. Serve with your favorite grain or noodles for a complete meal.
