  • thin spatula
  • plate
  • foil

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets, skin-on preferred
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

For Serving

  • Lemon wedges optional
  • Fresh dill or parsley optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • Pat the salmon fillets dry and drizzle with olive oil, then season generously with salt and black pepper.

Grilling

  • Preheat your gas grill to medium-high heat (400-450°F) or set up charcoal for two-zone cooking.
  • Clean and oil the hot grill grates thoroughly to prevent sticking.
  • Place salmon skin-side down on the hottest part of the grill, close the lid, and cook for 4-6 minutes without moving.

Finishing and Serving

  • Gently loosen and flip the salmon, cooking for another 3-5 minutes until opaque and flaky, reaching an internal temperature of 145°F.
  • Transfer the cooked salmon to a plate, tent with foil, and let rest for 5 minutes before serving with lemon wedges and fresh herbs.

Notes

For best results, ensure your grill grates are very clean and well-oiled to prevent salmon from sticking. Do not overcook the salmon to keep it moist and tender.
