  • 1 loaf Italian bread
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 4-6 cloves fresh garlic
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
  • 1.5 - 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)
  • Salt to taste

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise.
  • In a small bowl, combine softened butter with minced garlic, grated Parmesan cheese, dried oregano or Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper; mix well.
  • Generously spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the bread.
  • Evenly sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the buttered bread.
  • Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, golden brown, and the bread edges are lightly crisped.
  • Garnish with fresh chopped parsley if desired, cool for a minute or two, then slice and serve.

Notes

Keep a close eye on the bread while baking to prevent it from burning, as oven temperatures can vary.
