A simple yet elegant dish, this classic oven-baked lemon dill salmon recipe is perfect for a weeknight meal or a special occasion. Flaky salmon fillets are seasoned with garlic, dill, and lemon, then baked to perfection.

  • 4 salmon fillets about 6 ounces each, skin on or off
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2-3 cloves fresh garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper or to taste
  • 1 lemon thinly sliced (for placing on fillets) or 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (for drizzling)
  • paprika Optional: A sprinkle of paprika for color

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and place them skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

Seasoning & Baking

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, minced garlic, dried dill, salt, and pepper.
  • Drizzle the olive oil mixture evenly over each salmon fillet.
  • Place a thin slice of lemon on top of each fillet or squeeze fresh lemon juice over them.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily, reaching an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).

Serving

  • Remove from the oven and let the salmon rest for a couple of minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider marinating the salmon for 15-20 minutes before baking. Adjust cooking time based on the thickness of your salmon fillets to prevent overcooking.
