  • Large raw shrimp peeled and deveined (tails on or off, your preference)
  • Thinly sliced deli turkey breast (regular or smoked)
  • Olive oil

For the Brown Sugar Glaze

  • Brown sugar (light or dark)
  • Soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Garlic powder
  • Red pepper flakes (optional, for a subtle kick)
  • Water or chicken broth

Glaze Preparation

  • Combine brown sugar, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, red pepper flakes (if using), and water/broth in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer, whisking constantly until the sugar dissolves and the glaze slightly thickens, then remove from heat to cool.

Shrimp & Turkey Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 375°F/190°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Pat the shrimp thoroughly dry, then wrap each with a strip of thinly sliced turkey, securing with a toothpick if desired.

Baking the Shrimp

  • Arrange the wrapped shrimp in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, brush generously with olive oil, and bake for 10-12 minutes until the turkey crisps slightly and the shrimp turn pink.

Glaze and Finish

  • Remove the baking sheet from the oven, brush each shrimp thoroughly with the prepared glaze, and return to the oven for an additional 5-7 minutes. Watch carefully until the glaze caramelizes and appears glossy, then remove and let rest for a minute before serving.

Notes
