Main Dough

  • 2 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter room temperature
  • 3/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup Brown sugar packed
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract

Optional Frosting

  • 2 cups Powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter softened
  • 2 tbsp Milk
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • For optional frosting, beat softened butter until creamy; gradually add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, then mix until smooth.
  • Once cookies are completely cool, spread the frosting evenly over each.

Notes

For best results, ensure butter is at room temperature. Do not overmix the dough. Cookies are best enjoyed fresh.
