  • Whisk
  • Separate bowl
  • Wire rack

Ingredients

Brownie Filling

  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Pie Crust

  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust

Optional Add-ins

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped nuts for extra texture and flavor

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and place the unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate, following thawing instructions if using a frozen crust.

Make the Brownie Batter

  • Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl, then whisk in the granulated sugar.
  • Stir in the eggs one at a time until smooth and glossy, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt to prevent lumps.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until no flour streaks remain, being careful not to overmix. Fold in optional chocolate chips or nuts.

Bake and Cool

  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pie crust and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  • The pie is done when the edges are set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs. Cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

For an extra special treat, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Make sure the pie cools completely to ensure clean slices and avoid a messy presentation.
