  • 12 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk whole or 2%
  • 1 cup cooked and crumbled breakfast sausage or bacon/diced ham
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese or Monterey Jack blend
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Spread the cooked and crumbled sausage evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  • Sprinkle a generous layer of shredded cheese over the sausage.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and optional garlic/onion powder until well combined.
  • Carefully pour the egg mixture over the sausage and cheese, then gently shake the dish to distribute it evenly.

Baking and Serving

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is lightly golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a richer casserole, you can use heavy cream instead of milk. This casserole is also great for meal prepping; you can assemble it the night before and bake it in the morning.
