Equipment

  • Small wooden or bamboo skewers
  • Serving platter

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes mixed colors
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella balls bocconcini or ciliegine, drained
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves preferably small to medium-sized
  • 4 oz thinly sliced prosciutto

Dressing & Seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons good quality balsamic glaze store-bought or homemade
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • Fold each prosciutto slice in half lengthwise, then roll it to form a small rosette. Set these aside.
  • Thread one cherry tomato, a folded basil leaf, a mozzarella ball, another basil leaf, and a prosciutto rosette onto each skewer, repeating the pattern for all ingredients to create colorful skewers.

Serving

  • Arrange the assembled skewers on a serving platter. Drizzle lightly with balsamic glaze and extra virgin olive oil, then season with salt and pepper.
  • Serve immediately, or allow to sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes before serving for optimal flavor.

Notes

For an enhanced presentation, arrange the finished skewers in a decorative pattern on your serving platter. To elevate the flavors, consider using a flavored balsamic glaze, such as fig or cherry. If preparing ahead of time, store the skewers in the refrigerator and add the balsamic glaze and olive oil just before serving to prevent the basil from wilting.
