Equipment

  • Baking Sheets
  • Microwave-Safe Bowls

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 12 oz (1 bag) pretzel rods
  • 10 oz white chocolate melting wafers or chopped white chocolate
  • 10 oz dark chocolate melting wafers or chopped dark chocolate
  • 1/4 cup crushed candy canes
  • 1/4 cup festive sprinkles (red and green)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil or coconut oil Optional, for thinning chocolate

Instructions

Preparation

  • Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or wax paper for easy handling and cleanup.
  • Melt the white and dark chocolates separately in microwave-safe bowls, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth, adding oil if needed for desired consistency.

Dipping and Decorating

  • Dip about two-thirds of a pretzel rod into melted white chocolate, twisting to coat evenly, then let excess drip off before placing it on a prepared baking sheet.
  • Immediately sprinkle the white chocolate-dipped pretzel with crushed candy canes while the chocolate is still wet.
  • Continue dipping remaining pretzels in either white or dark chocolate, decorating with crushed candy canes or festive sprinkles; optionally, create a two-tone effect by allowing the first chocolate to set before adding the second dip.

Setting and Storage

  • Refrigerate the dipped and decorated pretzels for 15-20 minutes, or until the chocolate is fully set.
  • Store cooled pretzel rods in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks, using parchment paper to separate layers.

Notes

For best results, ensure your melting chocolate is not too hot, as this can cause it to seize. You can also experiment with different toppings like chopped nuts or drizzled caramel for variety.
