Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Offset spatula or spoon

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 10-12 ounces good quality chocolate (milk, dark, or white, or a combination)
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies (from candy canes)
  • 1/2 cup pretzels broken into small pieces
  • Assorted festive sprinkles (red, green, white, gold, or silver)

Optional Add-ins

  • chopped nuts (pecans, almonds)
  • dried cranberries
  • mini marshmallows, mini M&M's

Instructions

Preparation

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prepare your workstation.

Melting and Spreading

  • Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals (or using a double boiler) until smooth.
  • Pour the melted chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it into a thin, even layer about 1/4-inch thick, forming roughly a 9x13-inch rectangle.

Topping and Setting

  • Immediately and generously sprinkle crushed peppermint, sprinkles, broken pretzels, and any other desired additions over the wet chocolate, distributing them evenly.
  • Chill the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 30-60 minutes (or freezer for 15-20 minutes) until the chocolate is completely firm.

Serving

  • Once hardened, lift the parchment paper off the baking sheet, then break the bark into irregular pieces or cut into uniform shapes with a sharp knife. Serve immediately or store for later.

Notes

For best results, use high-quality chocolate. You can customize the toppings with your favorite nuts, dried fruits, or candies. Store the bark in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
