  • 4 cups mixed nuts (pecans, walnuts, almonds, cashews)
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1 tablespoon water

Spice Mix

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • cayenne pepper (optional, for a subtle kick)

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and prepare a large baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk the egg white and water until frothy, then add the mixed nuts and toss to ensure they are evenly coated.
  • Combine brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, salt, and optional cayenne pepper in a separate small bowl.

Baking

  • Pour the combined spice mixture over the nuts and toss until each nut is thoroughly coated.
  • Spread the coated nuts in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the nuts are fragrant and lightly toasted; allow them to cool completely on the baking sheet to crisp up.

Notes

For an extra festive touch, consider adding a pinch of allspice or ginger to the spice mix. These nuts make a wonderful gift when packaged in an airtight container.
