Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Large Platter
  • Small bowl

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds large shrimp peeled, deveined, tails on or off
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4-5 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

For Serving & Garnish

  • Fresh lemon wedges for serving
  • Fresh parsley sprigs for garnish
  • Your favorite cocktail sauce or a homemade creamy dipping sauce for serving

Instructions

Prep and Cook

  • Pat the large shrimp dry using paper towels.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant, ensuring it doesn't brown.
  • Add shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until pink and opaque; do not overcook.
  • Remove the skillet from the heat.
  • Sprinkle cooked shrimp with Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper.
  • Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the shrimp, then toss gently to combine all ingredients.

Chill and Serve

  • Allow the shrimp to cool to room temperature, then chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  • Arrange the chilled garlic Parmesan shrimp on a large platter.
  • Garnish the platter with fresh lemon wedges and parsley sprigs.
  • Place a small bowl of cocktail sauce or preferred dipping sauce in the center or alongside the platter.

Notes

Avoid overcooking the shrimp to keep them tender and juicy. For best results, ensure the shrimp are thoroughly chilled before serving. Adjust the amount of garlic and Parmesan to your preference. This dish is excellent with classic cocktail sauce or a creamy dill sauce.
