  • oven-safe wire rack
  • baking sheet
  • aluminum foil or parchment paper
  • tongs
  • paper towels

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound thick-cut bacon approximately 450g

Optional Flavoring

  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

Preparation

  • Place a wire rack inside a baking sheet lined with foil or parchment paper, then preheat the assembly in the oven to 400°F (200°C).

Cooking

  • Carefully remove the hot baking sheet and arrange bacon strips in a single layer on the rack, ensuring no overlap.
  • Brush with maple syrup and/or sprinkle with cayenne pepper now, if making the sweet and spicy variation.
  • Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes for thick-cut bacon, or 15-20 minutes for regular-cut bacon, until deep golden brown and crispy.

Finishing

  • Once crispy, remove from the oven and use tongs to transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess fat.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy your perfectly crispy bacon.

Notes

Keep a close eye on the bacon during the last few minutes of baking to prevent burning. Adjust cooking times based on your oven and desired crispness. You can save the rendered bacon fat for future cooking!
