  • 9x5-inch loaf pan
  • wire rack

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Add-ins

  • 1 1/2 cups apples, peeled, cored, and diced (about 2 medium apples)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Turbinado sugar for topping (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  • In a separate medium bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, melted butter, maple syrup, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing with a spoon or spatula until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • Gently fold in the diced apples and optional nuts.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle with Turbinado sugar, if desired.

Baking

  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the bread cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10-15 minutes, then remove it from the pan and let it cool completely on the wire rack before slicing and serving.

Notes

For extra maple flavor, drizzle a simple maple glaze over the cooled bread (1/2 cup powdered sugar mixed with 2 tablespoons maple syrup).
