  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 ounce dry ranch seasoning mix
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth

  • Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of a 6-quart (or larger) slow cooker.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, ranch seasoning mix, and chicken broth; whisk until smooth.
  • Pour the cream cheese mixture evenly over the chicken breasts.
  • Cook on high for 3 hours or on low for 6 hours, or until the chicken is tender and easily shredded.
  • Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
  • Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir to combine with the sauce.
  • Serve warm over rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes, or use in sandwiches, wraps, or salads.

Notes

For a richer flavor, you can brown the chicken breasts in a skillet before adding them to the slow cooker. This recipe is also great with boneless, skinless chicken thighs. Adjust the amount of ranch seasoning to your taste. If the sauce is too thick, add a bit more chicken broth until desired consistency is reached.
