Equipment

  • Large skillet

Ingredients

Meat Mixture

  • 1 lb lean ground beef (80/20 or 90/10)
  • 1 lb ground Italian sausage (sweet or spicy)
  • 1/2 cup mini pepperoni or quartered regular sliced pepperoni
  • 4-6 slices cooked and crumbled bacon
  • 1 cup pizza sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 12-18 taco shells (soft flour or hard)
  • 1/2 small onion finely diced (optional)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced (optional)

Seasoning

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (if browning meat)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a kick)
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Meats

  • Brown the ground beef and Italian sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up as it cooks; add diced onion and minced garlic during the last few minutes if desired.
  • Drain any excess grease thoroughly from the cooked meat mixture.

Season & Sauce

  • Stir in pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, oregano, salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes with the cooked meats; simmer for 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Once thickened, stir in the crumbled bacon and pepperoni into the meat mixture.

Assemble & Serve

  • Warm taco shells according to package directions, then spoon the meat mixture into each taco shell.
  • Top generously with shredded mozzarella cheese, then place the filled tacos in a skillet, cooking for 2-3 minutes per side until the cheese is melted and bubbly and shells are crispy.
  • Serve the Skillet Sizzle Meat Lovers Pizza Tacos immediately.

Notes

For extra crispiness, you can lightly brush the taco shells with olive oil before warming them. Feel free to customize with your favorite pizza toppings like mushrooms or peppers, just ensure they are finely diced and cooked through beforehand. These tacos are best served fresh, but any leftover meat mixture can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated. Adding a dollop of sour cream or a sprinkle of fresh basil before serving can elevate the flavors.
