Waffle Donuts

  • 1 ½ cups All-purpose flour
  • ½ cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • ¼ tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 1 Large egg
  • 1 cup Milk
  • ¼ cup Melted unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract for batter
  • 1 Apples large, peeled, cored, and finely diced

Glaze

  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp Milk or water
  • ½ tsp Vanilla extract for glaze

  • Preheat and lightly grease your waffle iron according to manufacturer instructions.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, milk, melted butter, and 1 tsp vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until moistened, being careful not to overmix.
  • Gently fold the finely diced apples into the batter until evenly distributed.
  • Spoon about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of batter onto the preheated waffle iron and cook for 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
  • While donuts cook, whisk powdered sugar, 1-2 tbsp milk, and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth for the glaze.
  • Carefully remove cooked donuts from the waffle iron, then immediately dip or drizzle generously with glaze while warm. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, use a non-stick waffle iron. Adjust the amount of milk in the glaze for your desired consistency. These donuts are best served fresh and warm.
