  • 1.5 lbs (680g) salmon fillets skin-on or off, cut into 4-ounce portions
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) honey
  • 4-5 garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Optional Garnishes

  • Fresh parsley or cilantro
  • sesame seeds
  • lemon wedges
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • zest of half a lemon

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Pat the salmon fillets dry and season with salt and pepper.
  • Whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, lemon juice, ginger, and lemon zest for the glaze.

Cooking

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Place salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Pour half of the honey garlic sauce over the salmon fillets.
  • Bake for 12-18 minutes, brushing with remaining sauce during the last 5 minutes or broiling for 1-2 minutes for caramelization.

Serving

  • Remove from oven and transfer to plates.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro, sesame seeds, and lemon wedges, then serve immediately.

Notes

For crisper skin, ensure salmon is very dry before seasoning. Adjust spice levels by increasing or decreasing the amount of garlic and ginger. This dish pairs well with roasted vegetables or a side of rice.
